Leo (July 23rd – August 22nd)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Last month we focused on Leo, so if you would like the details on the other half of August’s Zodiac signs, read this post<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The gist is that Leo is a very warm and sociable sign. Leos have the same characteristics you would expect them to: brave, courageous, and loving. They enjoy everything glamorous, gorgeous, and regal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Virgo (August 23rd – September 22nd)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Etymology<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Virgo is the Latin word for “virgin,” which many Medieval Christians used to associate the sign with the Blessed Virgin Mary. However, the meaning behind Virgo dates further back.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In ancient Babylonian times, the constellation was known as “Furrow,” (a v-shape used in agriculture to make rows) which represented the goddess Shala. The western portion had her holding the Frond of Eura, and the eastern was her holding an ear of grain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Ancient Greece, the constellation was a depiction of the goddess Demeter, who ruled over agriculture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At one point, it was believed that Virgo was a representation of Astraea, goddess of purity and justice. She would hold the fern in one hand and scales in the other. However, the scales were later given to Libra.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Traits<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Virgos are said to be the opposite of attention seekers. They are shy, modest, and quiet. They’re very analytical, and will only make decisions based on what they believe will have the best outcome. They’re hard-working, calm, and methodical. This makes them seem like the colder of August’s Zodiac signs, but they’re a good person to have on your side when you’re in a pinch. The Virgo model is “do more, talk less.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As odd as it may sound, many Virgos enjoy math and logic puzzles. They’re all about the little details and can watch their favourite tv shows without end to find them all.
