You may have heard of omega chains in passing, or this could be the first time you’ve seen it. Either way, these unusual yet sophisticated chains are an interesting addition to anyone’s jewellery collection. They’re not like the typical chain you would expect to see in a store, but they are something people may find fits their aesthetic. Keep reading to learn more about the fascinating omega chain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What Are Omega Chains?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Omega chains are chains, but not in the traditional sense. They’re made of metal plates that are wrapped around a wire or mesh base. They’re similar to herringbones in the sense that they can be woven into patterns. However, they are stiffer than herringbones and typically more sturdy. They aren’t very flexible when compared to other chains and can kink if they aren’t handled or stored properly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Typically, omega chains are worn as chokers, but they can be found in lengths up to 20 inches. They come in the typical silver, gold, and rose gold colours, and some are even two-toned. This means that the top and underside of the chain are two different colours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They tend to be on the more expensive side, but when you consider the materials they’re made of (precious metals) and the work that goes into creating them, it does make sense.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How to Style Them<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Omega chains can be worn as they are, but if you can find a pendant with a bail large enough, you can add to it. However, we do have to warn people to be cautious about adding pendants to these delicate chains. Pendants that have a bail too snug or too heavy will cause the chain to bend. Depending on the damage, it may be impossible to repair.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When it comes to clothing, they work well with just about anything. However, sometimes it can snag on clothing, so it is important to be mindful of that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Personally, we think they look best when they’re 14 – 18 inches long. These lengths can be worn with v-necks, sweetheart necklines, and off-the-shoulder tops – but at the end of the day it’s about what feels the most comfortable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Basic Care <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Omega chains can be very finicky. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Remember to always take it off before bed. Wearing it while sleeping can cause it to bend or snap. The same goes for physical exercise, manual labour, and any other activity that would put omega chains in awkward positions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Of course, remember that omega chains made of precious metals need to be treated as such. Make sure that they don’t get wet. If they do, they need to be patted dry. They also need to be stored in a dry, cool environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
